In response to COVID-19, the 2021 festival is being held virtually.
Wilmington Earth Day Festival: Entire month of April!
April 22nd is Earth Day! Due to COVID-19, we will be unable to celebrate in person at Long Leaf Park like we traditionally do. In order to allow our community to learn about the local environment and organizations that work towards preserving and restoring the Cape Fear region we are developing a Passport Program that will be available for people to explore the entire month of April.
This year’s theme is "Restore Our Earth". This is the 2020 theme of the Earth Day Network and was selected as a theme that our community can support and rally behind.
This page will be your main source of information for the 2021 festival.
While we can't gather together at Longleaf Park thanks to COVID-19, we can certainly gather online and in small groups at the places of business for the exhibitors and vendors of the festival. Our hope is to provide support to the hardworking, environmentally oriented organizations who are part of this event. You do not have to wait until Earth Day to show your support! We are going to develop a map of our vendors and exhibitors across the region, so individuals can visit these organizations and collect info for the Passport Program. More information about the Passport Program will be given on this page as it is developed. Feel free to browse the exhibitors and vendors listed in the event discussion and reach out to them directly if you'd like to learn more about their cause, volunteer or shop with them, or just connect.
For the youngsters, the Rapping Red Oak from Mr. Mark's Music (Futureshine Entertainment) will perform a song and dance that will be shared in the event so that they can dress as their favorite flora and fauna and have their own Nature Brigade Parade at home. We encourage you to get creative and make costumes from upcycled material around your home! Send us your pictures to share in the event page if you'd like.
We are looking into having an online store to purchase Earth Day merchandise and will post that information on this website.
We will continue to update this page as we develop our festivities, so be sure to check back regularly. Please stay safe and follow the recommended precautions. We hope to see you at a live event next Spring. 🌸
The festival would not be possible without the support of our sponsors:
