This year's theme is "Building a Better World."
This year's theme is "Building a Better World." The theme was selected to highlight the EDA's commitment to working with groups and individuals of all races, ages, creeds, and sexual orientation, as we believe that all human beings can work together to help increase the environmental literacy of our citizens and build a better world. This has always been a goal of ours, but this year we've been able to take more steps to work with organizations that represent all people of the Lower Cape Fear area, especially those that are wanting to expand their environmental stewardship message and opportunities to people who may not otherwise have that opportunity.
Everyone is invited... families, friends, residents, visitors, individuals & organizations.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed in the Kid Zone or exhibitor tent please.

Earth Day is a time to celebrate our beautiful planet, meet people from other organizations, convey your message, and recruit members, volunteers, and interested people to participate in the stewardship of our community. It is a fun day to be outside, talk to new friends, and learn about all the great things that are happening in our community. To make sure that the event is as interesting, entertaining, educational, and enjoyable as possible we would like to invite YOU to be at this year's Earth Day Celebration!

Food & Beverage
Food, beer and beverages will be available for purchase. Selections are produced locally in and around the greater Wilmington area.
This years beer sponsor is Wilmington's own Waterline Brewing Company. Waterline Brewing Co. operates in a rehabilitated section of the old Jacobi Hardware warehouse located on Surry Street, just under the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. This wonderful old structure has a great history. It was built in the 1930s and 1940s in distinct sections using concrete block, cinder block, and rough cut heart-pine timbers. We've worked hard to preserve the look and feel of the original structure while updating some of the infrastructure to modern needs: upgraded electrical service, water and sewer, new bathrooms and heating and air conditioning in the taproom. Join us on our tours where our staff will outline not only the brewing process but share some of the history and details of our beautiful home.

Kids' EcoZone Area
Wilmington's 2017 Earth Day celebration is a family-friendly event encouraging children of all ages to become more aware of our planet. Specific details are to come! Along with the exhibitors, there will be a kid's music area right next to the kid's tent!
We are happy to announce the return of the Nature Brigade Parade to the Earth Day activities this year. We are returning to the roots of the Earth Day event and including a nature inspired walking parade. The parade is called the "Nature Brigade Parade" and it will be led by Mr. Mark's Music (Futureshine Entertainment) from 1:30-2:00 pm. We will start the parade at the kids tent at 1:35pm and walk a short path around the perimeter of the Earth Day festivities and end up with a drum session in front of the main stage and then a ECO jam with the Rapping Red Oak and the "Nature Brigaders" (including members of Cosmic groove lizards). Calling all drummers and people who want to dress up as your favorite flora or fauna creature. Let’s make this parade an event to remember!

Dogs should be kept on a leash at all times. If your dog is running about it is a violation of County ordinance and you may be subject to a fine.
For more information, please refer the Parks & Recreation website and their official rules and regulations.
